Field-Trip β Vancouver-Zoo
Vancouver Zoo Field Trip with BKMCC
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Learning feels bigger when children can step outside and see the world together.
Our Brilliant Kids Montessori Childcare Centre kids enjoyed a sunny field trip to the Greater Vancouver Zoo. The day included group photos, safe bus routines, walking through the zoo, stopping near fences and habitats, and sharing lunch under the canopy. It was a full day of care, movement, and outdoor learning.

Starting the Day Together
A good field trip begins with calm steps and a shared plan.
The day started with our kids, families, and our teachers gathering near the bus and at the Greater Vancouver Zoo entrance. Bright safety vests helped the group stay easy to see. The group photos captured an important part of the day: everyone was there together, ready to take part in a real community outing.
Learning Benefits:
- π€ Group belonging and shared routines
- πΆ Safe walking and lining up
- π Confidence in a new outdoor setting
- πΈ Memory-making with families and our teachers

Walking, Watching, and Wondering
Curiosity grows when children have time to look closely.
During the zoo visit, our kids walked through outdoor paths, crossed wooden areas, used stairs, and paused near viewing fences. Our teachers guided the group with care while the children moved through the zoo together. The photos show kids watching, waiting, walking, and staying close to the group as they explored.
Learning Benefits:
- πΏ Outdoor observation and curiosity
- πΎ Respect for shared public spaces
- πΆ Gross motor movement through walking and stairs
- π€² Staying close to our teachers and the group

Lunch and Rest Under the Canopy
Rest is part of a good learning day.
After walking and exploring, the kids took time to sit at picnic tables, drink water, open lunch boxes, and enjoy food under the canopy. These quiet care moments matter. They helped the children reset, feel safe, and stay ready for the rest of the day.
Learning Benefits:
- π Self-care through eating and drinking
- π§Ί Social time around the picnic table
- π€οΈ Calm breaks during outdoor activity
- π¬ Everyday independence with familiar support

The lunch break also showed the warm community around the children. Families, kids, and our teachers gathered in the same space, sharing a simple pause in the middle of a busy zoo day.
Learning Benefits:
- π€ Family and childcare connection
- π Feeling safe in a group setting
- π§ Learning daily routines outside the centre
- πΌ Joyful shared moments with familiar adults

What This Zoo Day Gave Our Kids
A field trip becomes meaningful when children can carry the day back with them.
At the Greater Vancouver Zoo, the children had a full day with many small moments to remember. They climbed on and off the bus with help nearby. They followed our teachers through the paths, paused by the fences, and had time to eat and rest under the canopy.
For us, that is what made the day special. It showed how a field trip can feel fun, steady, and well cared for from start to finish.
